We are seeking a Web Application Developer who will be responsible for the ongoing development and sustainment of the Peel District School Board’s Report Card for Student Success, School Success Planning, and Your Voice Counts web applications.
The Web Application Developer will be part of a large, cross-functional team, which is responsible for the full lifecycle development, from inception to implementation, of scalable n-tiered web applications. The candidate will collaborate with the technical team, business integration team, and project manager to develop, implement and sustain system-wide web applications. The successful candidate must have an understanding of common coding design patterns, object oriented programming, n-tiered infrastructure, data access and retrieval, and security.
Responsibilities will include: Collaborating with the technical team to ensure a seamless integration of the presentation, application, and database layers; working from business requirements and specifications to design and develop functionally rich, robust, user-friendly, and highly available web applications; collaborating with the business integration team to ensure the presentation layer meets the business requirements; providing estimates for assigned work to the project manager; analyzing, prototyping, and testing emerging web technologies to provide suggestions and recommendations on their use.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Computer Science, advanced diploma, or equivalent directly related work experience
- Must have an understanding of common coding design patterns and Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Minimum of 3 years experience of Rich Internet Application (RIA) development
- Adobe Flex SDK 3 or 4 with ActionScript 3
- (D)(X)HMTL, CSS, Javascript (including libraries such as jQuerie), AJAX, JSON, XML
- Minimum of 2 years experience using J2EE development
- Struts, JSP, Servlets, Web Services, Spring
- Working experience with: Adobe Flex or Flash Builder Beta, Adobe CS4 (Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop), Oracle JDeveloper, and Microsoft Visual Source Safe
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong interpersonal, time management & organization skills that facilitate team work
SALARY: C4-1 – Min. $58,595 – Max. $69,575 per annum
Duties are to commence as soon as possible.
